The plan has since been amended, resulting in a new “significantly better” version for Kiev, which Witkoff will discuss with Putin in Moscow, at Donald Trump’s request.
On Tuesday (November 25), the US president revealed that White House envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week in Moscow to discuss the plan to end the war in Ukraine.
“Steve Witkoff will go, perhaps with Jared (Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law). I’m not sure if Jared will go, but he’s involved in the process, he’s an intelligent guy, and they’re going to meet with President Putin, I believe, next week in Moscow”, the American president stressed to journalists aboard Air Force One.
Trump also said that Witkoff will be accompanied in Moscow by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, who recently joined Washington’s efforts on this dossier.
“I will be updated on all progress made, along with Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War [Defesa]Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles,” he added.
The American leader indicated, on the Truth Social network, that he hopes to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and with the Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelensky, but “only when the agreement to end this war is concluded or if the final phase” of negotiations has been reached.
