Greenvolt Power, part of the Greenvolt group, reached an agreement with Canadian Northland Power for the sale of two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects with a cumulative capacity of 300 MW/1.2 MWh.
Located in western Poland and in the ready-to-build phase (construction should begin in 2026), Mieczysławów (200 MW / 800 MWh) and Kamionka (100 MW / 400 MWh) become part of the Canadian energy company’s portfolio. Furthermore, it has energy infrastructure assets in several countries.
The two projects were designed to guarantee a storage duration of four hours, with a view to increasing the flexibility of the system, as well as providing essential balancing services. Capacity contracts have a duration of 17 years and are indexed to inflation.
In a statement, Greenvolt highlights that the transaction is in line with Greenvolt’s asset rotation strategy, which envisages the sale of around 70% to 80% of assets developed internally, which means keeping between 20% and 30% of them. The sale will support the “acceleration of the development of large-scale solar, wind and storage projects in Europe, North America and Asia”, can be read in the same note.
