Private security company revenues reached 1,210 million euros in 2024, 8.5% more than in the previous year.

According to an analysis by Informa D&B, the largest share continues to be that of surveillance activity, whose turnover grew by 8%, reaching 837 million euros.

At the same time, total revenue from the installation, maintenance and operation of electronic security systems rose 9.8%, to 291 million euros. What remains is the transportation of values, which increased by 9.3%, due to the 82 million euros achieved.

The public administration is involved in 29% of business volume, making it the main customer. With regard to private entities, transport companies and other services stand out, along with the domestic sector.

In September 2025, the sector involved 77 companies authorized to provide private security services by the Ministry of Internal Administration (six fewer than in the same month). Still, the majority of business volume is concentrated in the main companies, as the five largest account for 51.6%.

By type of activity, 66 companies had licenses to provide surveillance and personal protection services. There were 44 that were able to operate in the electronic security systems market and four in the value transport and safekeeping segment.

The sector is mainly made up of small and medium-sized companies, as close to 43% of all companies have less than 100 employees. There are 11 that have over a thousand people working.
