Zelensky had revealed on Wednesday the most recent version of the Peace plan sponsored by the United States of America, which had been negotiated for weeks between Washington and Kiev.
The aforementioned preliminary document imposes the ‘freezing’ of the current combat front lines, but without providing a solution for the Ukrainian territories occupied (19%) by the Russian Federation since the invasion of February 24, 2022.
The original version of the American plan addressed two demands from the Russian regime led by President Vladimir Putin, which are absent from the new formulation
Russia demands the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donbas territories, still under Kiev’s control, and a legally binding commitment that Ukraine remains outside the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that Moscow was “formulating its position” and declined to comment on any details.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said progress toward ending the war was “slow but steady.”
