A 33-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday, December 16, for allegedly inserting razor blades into bread at two Walmart stores in the US city of Biloxi, in the state of Mississippi.

Camille Benson, as the suspect is called, was accused of attempted serious bodily harm, with the judge setting her bail at 100 thousand dollars (around 85 thousand euros).

According to police spokeswoman Candace Young, customers reported finding the razor blades in stores in two shopping centers, with the first report being on December 5th and the other three days later. On Sunday (14), another complaint arose, with Walmart employees inspecting the remaining bread that was for sale, finding more adulterated units.

On Monday, a formal complaint was filed with the local police, and Walmart issued a statement asking all customers to inspect the bread they purchased in those stores and inform the authorities if they found the said blades. “The health and safety of our customers is always our top priority,” the note said.

The investigation by the Biloxi police department, using video surveillance images, led to the main suspect Camille Benson, 33 years old, from Texas.
