The association states that, “after five years, the PSP continues to be unprepared” to deal with immigration, citing situations such as the reinforcement of the work of PJ inspectors at the borders and cases of burnout among PSP agents deployed to airports. It also highlights “the alerts made by airlines and third country embassies, which have drawn attention to the chaos at the border control at Lisbon airport”.
Regarding the Agency for Integration, Migrations and Asylum (AIMA), responsible for the documentation area of immigrants, it states that “a lot has already been said and written about AIMA’s inability and unpreparedness to respond to the challenges that require balanced, adequate, rapid and competent immigration management”.
