The US Department of Justice began this Friday, December 19, to release its files on Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender and a wealthy financier known for his connections to some of the most influential people in the world, including Donald Trump.

The total volume was not immediately clear, although Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in an interview with Fox News Channel that he expected the department to release “hundreds of thousands” of documents today and hundreds of thousands more in the coming weeks, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

The release included photographs, telephone call records, jury testimony and some documents and records that were already in the public domain.

The documents may contain the most detailed analysis to date of nearly two decades of government investigations into Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women and underage girls.
