Zelensky said this Wednesday that he held a video conference with Jared Kushner, US envoy and Donald Trump’s son-in-law, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, to discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine.
“This can be considered the first meeting of the group that will work on a document on the reconstruction and economic recovery of Ukraine”highlighted the Ukrainian head of state, in a message published on social media.
“We have also updated our thinking on the document’s 20 points to end the war. This is comprehensive security that will determine economic security and support a secure business environment”he added.
Trump again pressured Zelensky this week to sign the proposal, initially seen as favorable to Moscow’s interests, but which has since been subject to a review by Kiev.
Despite the White House leader’s new verbal attacks against his Ukrainian counterpart, Zelensky once again thanked “President Trump and his team for their substantial work and support.”
The leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom spoke today by telephone with US President Donald Trump about Washington’s peace plan, the French presidency revealed, without providing details about the conversation.
A source at the Élysée Palace told France-Presse (AFP) that the call lasted 40 minutes and aimed to “try to move forward with negotiations”.
Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and conveyed to him their strong support for the White House’s proposals.
Macron and Starmer are also expected to preside over a new videoconference on Thursday of the “coalition of the willing”, which brings together Kiev’s partner countries that could provide security guarantees to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.
