It launches warnings, harsh criticism of Europe and reveals the US position on foreign policy. In the document on the United States’ national security strategy, released this Friday, December 5, Donald Trump’s administration leaves a warning about the risk of “civilizational extinction” in Europe.

Over the course of 33 pages, the Trump administration claims that the “the era of mass migration must end” and that “border security is the main element of national security [norte-americana]”.
“We must protect our country from invasions, not only from uncontrolled immigration, but also from cross-border threats such as terrorism, drugs, espionage and human trafficking”, says the White House.
“In everything we do, we put America first”, says Trump in the preface to the strategy now released, which reveals a change in United States foreign policy. “The days when the United States supported the entire world order like Atlas are over,” says the document, quoted by the Financial Times.

In the document, the European continent is referred to as a place where “economic decline is overshadowed by the real and darker prospect of the end of civilization”.
The US must “cultivate resistance to Europe’s current trajectory within European nations,” says the national security strategy.
“American diplomacy must continue to defend genuine democracy, freedom of expression and the unreserved celebration of the individual character and history of European nations”, states the document, alluding, according to the Financial Times, to the growing political influence of far-right Eurosceptic parties in Europe.
“The United States encourages its political allies in Europe to promote this revival of the spirit, and the growing influence of European patriotic parties is indeed cause for great optimism,” the document states, further stating that the US will “toughen and reinforce its military presence in the Western Pacific”.
At a time when talks are taking place to end the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for almost four years, the USA accuses the Europeans of weakness and considers that the country should focus on “ending the perception, and preventing the reality, of NATO as an ever-expanding alliance”, says the Financial Times.
Regarding China, the document indicates that Washington will “rebalance the economic relationship” with Beijing, “giving priority to reciprocity and equity to restore American economic independence”.
