He has now been jailed for 25 years for ultimately causing their deaths.

Dymitro Chaban was waiting in his car outside a hotel in Alanya, Turkey, when two men on the back of a motorbike drove past his vehicle a few times, peering in his windows.

The men, still in their motorcycle helmets, seem to talk through the plan before one approaches the car’s front window.

He smashes the glass with the butt of a gun while the other waits for the getaway.

The gun-wielding robber screams and grabs a bag out of the car, which contained £30,700 (€35,000) of cash.

The robbers take off on their motorbike, but CCTV shows Chaban chasing after them in his SUV when he eventually catches up and collides with them.

Emergency services pronounced both robbers, identified as Murat Orhan Gündüz and Elnur Behbulda Gündüz, dead at the scene.

Chaban was given a life sentence for “deliberately killing” the two men, in a sentence hearing at Alanya 1st High Criminal Court.

Due to the “extreme provocation” of the event, his sentence has since been reduced to 25 years – 12 years and six months for each victim.

Chaban told the court: “I lost consciousness when I saw the gun when I was robbed. If I had been in my right mind, I would not have hit them.

“I would not have risked my life; I had no intention of killing. I do not have the ability to kill people; it was all beyond my control.”

A man identified as Yunus Emre C., accused of acting as a lookout during the robbery, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his part in the robbery.

It comes after a family-of-four tragically died while on holiday in Turkey after a powerful toxin used to kill bedbugs is understood to have leaked into their hotel room.

First suspected as food poisoninginvestigators now believe gases from a poisonous pesticide wafted into the family’s room caused their deaths.

Cops and prosecutors say the deadly bedbug gas leaked into the family’s room through the bathroom ventilation shaft and poisoned them after the treatment was used on the hotel’s ground floor.

Eleven people have now been arrested in connection with the case.
