FIVE people, including a toddler, have been killed in a tragic plane crash.
The Mexican Navy plane was transporting a child burns victim when it crashed in foggy conditions into a Texas estuary.
Five people were killed in the tragic accident, including a toddler.
Two passengers on the plane were from a charity which helps Mexican children suffering from severe burns.
The Mexican Navy said that four of the people on the aircraft were Navy officers and four were civilians.
The official confirmed that emergency services are still looking for one missing passenger, and two others were rescued alive.
US Coast Guard Officer Luke Baker confirmed that there had been five deaths, but did not identify which passengers had been killed.
The aircraft was last recorded flying over Galveston Bay, near Scholes International Airport, at 3.01pm local time, according to data from flight tracking website Flight Radar.
Footage shows the plane wreck laying in the water, with witnesses and police officers searching the debris.
Sky Decker, a local yacht captain, said he leapt into his boat after witnessing the crash, to see if he could help.
He said he jumped in the water, finding a seriously injured woman trapped in the plane wreckage who was “fighting for her life”.
Decker said: “I couldn’t believe. She had maybe 3 inches of air gap to breathe in.
“And there was jet fuel in there mixed with the water, fumes real bad. She was really fighting for her life.”
The hero yacht captain said he had also pulled a man from the debris who was already dead, saying both passengers he saw were dressed in civilian clothes.
The Mexican Navy confirmed that search and rescue operations were taking place, with the help the US Coast Guard.
Footage from the scene showed rescuers, including divers, working at the scene of the wreck in dense fog.
The Michou y Mau Foundation helps young Mexicans with severe and life-threatening burns.
In a statement on X, the foundation sent their “deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this tragedy”.
A US National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson said they were aware of the accident and were gathering information about it.
An investigation into the crash has been launched.
