Manipur police stated in X, “In follow up investigation of a threat video posted on Facebook by user “Metei Lanmi Naotyboy” on 21.11.2025 regarding bombing the Sangai Festival 2025, Manipur Police along with AR conducted an operation and arrested 03 (three) active cadres of KCP (MFL) who were involved in the incident. i)Laishram Sonia Devi (31) of Okram Chuthek, Imphal East district, who was arrested from her residence (she was involved in extortion activities) ii)Salam Luwangnganba Meetei @ Ibungo (22) of Tera Sadokpam Leikai and iii)Phamdom Phampok Meitei @ Ajay @ Abungcha (29) of Wangjing Bazar, Thoubal district (He was involved in planning to hurl grenades at the ongoing Sangai Festival 2025) Further investigation follows”.
The 10-day long Sangai festival started on November 21. Internally Displaced people (IDPs) are protesting the holding of the festival. These people want resettlement before holding such festivals. Manipur Valley-based civil society organisation, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) also opposed holding of the Sangai festival. The festival is held after a gap of two years.
Representatives of the Indian Association of Tour Operators called on Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan,Imphal. The meeting focused on positioning Manipur as a major gateway to the North-East by enhancing tourism infrastructure and
promotional outreach. The team highlighted the state’s rich culture, natural beauty, and strong potential to attract more visitors, and shared certain suggestions to improve facilities and elevate the overall visitor experience.
Over 260 people were killed, 1,500 were injured, and over 70,000 were displaced after the ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei and the Kuki-Zo communities on May 3, 2023, after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’, organised in the hill districts to protest the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status. Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February 13 this year.
