The Coast Guard USA intercepted and boarded this Thursday oil Veronica in Caribbean waters, accused of violating the blockade imposed by Washington on Venezuelan crude oil, reported the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem. It is about the sixth ship seized by Washington since December.
“Early this morning, a Coast Guard tactical team conducted a boarding and seizure of the tanker Veronica in the Caribbean,” Noem wrote in a message on X accompanied by a video of the operation, carried out in coordination with the Departments of Defense, State and Justice.
“Like another tanker the sanctioned ghost fleet, he Veronica “had previously transited through Venezuelan waters and operated in disregard of the quarantine imposed by President Trump on sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean,” Noem added.

This would be the sixth operation since the Administration began the seizures and blockade of sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean as a tool of pressure against the Government of Venezuela and occurs hours before Trump’s meeting with the Venezuelan opposition leaderMaría Corina Machado, in the White House.
A day earlier, Trump spoke by phone with Maduro’s vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, who took over as interim president after the capture and transfer to New York of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, on the 3rd.
