Rhode Island authorities arrested this Sunday, December 14, a person suspected of being linked to the shooting at Brown University, one of the most prestigious in the USA, located in Providence, which caused the death of two students and injuries to nine others.

“The residents of Providence can breathe a little easier,” said Brett Smiley, mayor of Providence, at a press conference held after the suspect’s arrest, highlighting that a “person of interest” in the case was detained by police at a hotel in Coventry, Rhode Island.

According to CNN, there was intense police activity at the hotel during the night, in an operation that was “linked” to the shooting, according to information from authorities. There were at least 20 police officers, agents from the US Marshals Service and FBI agents at that location, having entered a room in this hotel near Providence airport.

It is recalled that the attack took place in the university’s Engineering building, at a time when exams were taking place. The suspect was a man dressed in black, who was captured on video surveillance images, everything indicating that he is the man arrested this Sunday.
