There is a new player in the legal market in Portugal: tax expert António Gaspar Schwalbach opens the Spear Legal, focused on tax consultancy and litigation, explains a statement sent to newsrooms this afternoon, December 4th. This law firm is called AI-native for using “advanced artificial intelligence solutions to enhance the efficiency and quality of legal services”.

“We want to grow with quality, reinforcing the team with excellent professionals and consolidating a practice that combines technical rigor, technology and adaptability”, says Schwalbach, quoted in the statement. The lawyer has more than two decades in the tax area, most recently as a partner in the Tax area at Pares.

The firm has the “conviction that law must adapt to the context, always focusing on results”. The headquarters will be on Avenida da Liberdade and was “conceived as an agile, modern and unapologetically AI-nativeintegrating advanced artificial intelligence solutions”. One of these technological tools is the Affine“which uses AI to enable rapid legal research and structured analysis, ensuring the quality and efficiency of legal work.”

The initial focus of the activity will be, precisely, on taxation, “positioning itself as a strategic partner for companies, family groups and foreign investment, investing in excellence, innovation and adaptability”. The choice of the name and symbol of the new firm “reflects the values ​​of precision, strength and results orientation, summarized in the motto “Adapt.Ability e comes from the idea of ​​a spear, an instrument that combines strength, precision and direction. It is this triad that inspires the office’s identity.”

Before founding the Spear Legal, António Gaspar Schwalbach has worked at leading firms, as a partner in the Tax team at Cuatrecasas, responsible for the Tax team at Serra Lopes, Cortes Martins & Associados, coordinating lawyer at Telles de Abreu & Associados and also part of the Tax team at DLA Piper — ABBC. He worked in the areas of corporate reorganization, M&A, private wealth and management of family assets, as well as investments and financial and commercial transactions. These experiences, according to the lawyer, consolidated the creation of the new firm.
