A SPACE-X test flight endangered several packed passenger jets when it was “destroyed” less than ten minutes after it launched.
Elon Musk’s seventh Starship test flight put passenger planes flying over the Caribbean in “serious danger”, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) documents.
The launch was the company’s latest attempt to make life on Mars a reality, taking place just place days before the CEO began work on Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.
FAA documents now reveal that the Starship’s explosion put three passenger flights in serious danger that January evening.
The endangered planes included a JetBlue plane destined for San Juan.
The crew of the JetBlue flight was informed their journey would be “at [their] own risk”.

Risks included scattered debris from the explosion across the Caribbean sky.
The planes were forced into a temporary no-fly zone as “air-traffic controllers scrambled to get planes to safety”, the Wall Street Journal reported.
A controller had to intervene as two of the planes reportedly flew too close to each other after the explosion.
When a controller told one of the planes’ pilots they needed to declare an emergency landing at San Juan, the pilot responded: “In that case we declare emergency: Mayday. Mayday. Mayday.”
