The “Invisible Man” who asked Ghislaine Maxwell for “inappropriate friends” in the latest batch of Jeffrey Epstein files could be Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

The biggest ever tranche of Epstein docs released on Tuesday contain emails sent by a mystery man who signs of their messages with “A”.

Speculation is now mounting that the unidentified person exchanging emails with the late sex offender’s ex-girlfriend could be Andrew.

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing and there is no suggestion of misconduct.

In the bombshell series of emails dated between 2001 and 2002, Maxwell discusses “two-legged sight seeing” and a range of other plans with someone called “The Invisible Man”.

The mystery man’s email address is “abx17@dial.pipex.com”.

What we know so far…

On top of this, the anonymous sender appears to refer to the Royal Navy (RN).

After explaining how he had recently lost his “valet” earlier in the week, the man says: “I am a little off balance as not only has my office been restructured, I have left the RN and now my whole life is in turmoil as I have no one to look after me.”

Andrew served in the Royal Navy from 1979 to 2001.

The email from the unnamed man was sent in August – and it came just days after Andrew ended his service in July.

The valet referred to in the email is believed to be Michael Perry who died of a heart attack in 2001.

Perry, 62, was said to have been a father figure to the young royal when he was growing up but also through his teens and into adulthood.

One of the earlier emails addressed to Maxwell in August 2001 also says: “I am up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family.”

Maxwell also appeared in the latest files attempting to set up a trip in Peru for her friend “The Invisible Man” in 2002.

Speaking to a man named Juanesteban Ganoza in March 2002, who she wanted to act as a tour guide for her unnamed pal, she asked for “two-legged sightseeing” which would make her friend “very happy”.

Epstein’s former partner was also looking for “intelligent, pretty and fun” girls “from good families” for her mate.

She directly called her friend “Andrew” and described him as “an English gent”.

It is important to note that Maxwell’s anonymous friend named “The Invisible Man” has not been identified.

But in March 2002, Andrew was a six-day official visit to Peru celebrating the 50th year of his mum’s reign.

Ganoza replied to one of the emails: “About the girls … how old is he? I doubt it that he will find someone here, but we can try.”

There is no implication that any illegal activity took place on the trip.

Devastating emails also confirm Andrew – who has been banished from the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations on Wednesday – was being treated as a “subject” by US prosecutors in two separate criminal probes as far back as 2020.

In a federal investigation, the terms “subject” and “target” are used to describe those under investigation.

US officials said they had “documentary evidence” which suggested Andrew knew Maxwell was recruiting females to engage in sex acts with Epstein and other men.

There was also evidence that he engaged in sexual conduct with one of Epstein’s victims, believed to be Virginia Giuffre, they said.

It is the first time the shamed Royal has been identified as a suspect in any criminal probe relating to the trafficking and sex abuse of underage girls procured by Maxwell and Epstein.

The new batch of Epstein files included a chilling suicide attempt picture – as well as many more eerie snaps of young girls.

In another extraordinary revelation contained in the files, it emerged his London-based lawyers demanded he be given immunity from prosecution if he agreed to provide information during an interview with the FBI and district attorney.

US prosecutors pursued the then Prince – pictured reclining across the legs of five women at Sandringham in newly released photos – but were later told he would only be willing to provide a written statement.

His lawyer, Gary Bloxsome, of Blackfords, emailed them: “We are, of course, aware that you have requested a witness interview.

“You have confirmed to us, however, that you regard our client not as a witness but as a subject.

“We have ventilated at some length our concerns regarding our client being interviewed in those circumstances and we consider a witness statement and the offer of further engagement with written questioning to be a fair compromise and one which would be acceptable in the UK.”

Undeterred, the US authorities formally applied to the Home Office to invoke a legal treaty with Britain to question the disgraced Royal about Epstein – and jailed sex offender Peter Nygard.

The request – first revealed by The Sun in June 2020 – demanded a “voluntary interview” with “Material Witness PA” be videotaped and audio recorded.

Officials from the FBI, the district attorney’s office, and a detective from the NYPD would also be present.

They wrote: “US authorities seek to conduct an investigative interview of Prince Andrew.

“US authorities specifically request to conduct the questioning themselves in the presence of UK authorities to ensure that all necessary lines of inquiry are completed in the most efficient fashion.

“The specific subject matters of questioning are set forth in Attachment A.”

The 22-page document – released in the latest tranche of files – lists Andrew in his then full-title, H.R.H. Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward, the Duke of York.

Referring to their probe into Epstein it says: “The investigation to date has revealed that Prince Andrew may have been a witness to and/or participant in certain events of relevance to the ongoing investigation.

“For example, one victim has alleged that Maxwell introduced her to Prince Andrew who, according to this victim, was present for certain of the victim’s interactions with Epstein and Maxwell.

“Additionally, documentary evidence uncovered during the course of this investigation has revealed information suggesting that Prince Andrew had knowledge that Maxwell recruited females to engage in sex acts with Epstein and other men.

“Finally, there is evidence that Prince Andrew engaged in sexual conduct involving one of Epstein’s victims.”

His accuser, Giuffre, claimed Epstein trafficked her aged 17 to have sex with Andrew at Maxwell’s flat in London, at Epstein’s New York mansion and his private island, Little St James, in the US Virgin Islands.

Andrew, who settled with Giuffre for a reported £12million, has always denied the claims.

She took her own life in April aged 41.

As part of their probe the US wanted all communication, including email, text, recorded or transcribed voicemail, between Andrew and Epstein and any other written correspondence or notes of oral communications.

But they also demanded the request – set out under the 1994 Treaty of Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the US and UK – be kept confidential in a bid to protect their investigation.

On Tuesday night, it also emerged the Metropolitan Police contacted the FBI as recently as last month to ask if there were any ongoing investigations related to Andrew’s association with Epstein.

In an email a detective chief inspector said they were “reviewing” alleged efforts by Andrew to get information on his sex abuse accuser Giuffre via his protection officers.

Last week, the force said it would not launch a criminal investigation into the claims the former duke asked his taxpayer-funded bodyguard to dig up dirt on his alleged victim.

Andrew has been approached for comment and Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
