The restaurant and hotel sectors signed the review of collective contracts for 2026 with the Service Sector Workers Union (SITESE), foreseeing an average salary increase of around 5%.
According to the statement released this Tuesday by AHRESP – Associação da Hotelaria, Restauração e Similares de Portugal, the new contracts provide, among other changes, for the updating of salary tables for all professional categories with effect from January 1, 2026.
“This is a transversal salary increase, higher than the 4.6% defined in the Social Agreement for next year, and is therefore a decisive commitment to reinforcing the average salary”he says.
On Monday, the Portuguese Hotel Association (AHP) also announced that it had reached an agreement with SITESE for the global review of the Collective Labor Contract (CCT), which foresees an increase of more than 5% for the year 2026.
The understanding now reached with AHRESP results from a negotiation process classified as “responsible and balanced”, aiming to improve working conditions and enhance careers, whilst ensuring the economic sustainability of companies.
The negotiations took place in a context marked “by increased operational costs and labor shortages”, he highlights.
For AHRESP, this agreement reinforces the commitment to valuing professionals in the restaurant and tourist accommodation sector, “promoting more stable labor relations and adjusted to the current reality of the sectors”.
The association adds that it will soon release more detailed information on the content of the agreed changes, noting that this understanding with SITESE “reflects a stance of constructive, transparent and responsible dialogue, essential to reinforce the attractiveness, competitiveness and solidity of these strategic sectors for the national economy”.
