Mark Joseph Carney (born March 16, 1965) is a Canadian politician and economist who has served as the 24th prime minister of Canada since 2025, while also leading the Liberal Party and representing Nepean in Parliament. Born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and raised in Edmonton, he studied economics at Harvard University before earning a master’s and doctorate from the University of Oxford.
