The Grinch was detained by the Public Security Police (PSP) and Christmas is saved. “When someone tries to steal Christmas, the PSP is always there, attentive and ready to act! This year, the Grinch got in the way”reads the humorous warning message for road safety this long Christmas holiday.
The publication accompanies the photo of an agent arresting the Grinch in Lisbon. “Because while children dream, PSP is on the street protecting every smile, every hug and every return home safely. This Christmas, don’t be the Grinch in your own story. Drive safely“, he highlights.
As a final message, he emphasizes that “PSP watches over you, over Christmas, over your family, over everyone. PSP — Presence that protects.” Until the morning of December 24th, they had already registered 204 arrests for road crimesnamely 140 for driving while drunk and 64 for lack of legal license to drive.
8,497 drivers and 35,387 vehicles were also inspected by radar, with 2,564 infractions to road legislation. The biggest cause of administrative offenses is speeding, with 367 occurrences. THE PSP also committed 230 infractions for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 108 for lack of mandatory civil liability insurance, 58 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 43 for improper use of a cell phone while driving and 24 for lack of or incorrect use of a seat belt and/or child restraint system.
