CGTP-IN announced this Friday, December 19th, a demonstration for January 13th, as part of the actions to fight against the labor package.

“After the great general strike on December 11th, where workers made themselves heard and loudly stated their rejection of the labor package and the demand for its withdrawal, CGTP-IN decided to schedule a demonstration for January 13th, 2026, starting at 2:30 pm in Camões and heading to S. Bento”, reads the statement.

In a commitment to workers and within the scope of actions to fight against the labor package, “CGTP-IN developed a petition over the last few months where thousands of workers were contacted, clarified, informed and mobilized”.

“There are tens of thousands of workers who, with their signature, expressed their rejection of this assault on rights and working conditions that will be handed over to the Prime Minister on January 13th”, highlights the statement.

The CGTP and UGT called a general strike for December 11, in response to the draft law reforming labor legislation, presented by the Government.

After the strike, the Minister of Labor called the UGT to a meeting. CGTP requested a meeting with the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, which is scheduled for the 7th.
