The prices to be applied by CTT in 2026 will rise by an average of 6.20%, with an increase of four cents for the national standard mail service weighing up to 20 grams, according to an order published this Friday, 28th, in Diário da República.

Under the terms of order no. 14210/2025 – dated the 21st and signed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz -, the new prices to be charged on postal services that are part of the universal service offer come into force from February 2nd of next year.

CTT’s proposal to update prices for 2026, to be carried out within the scope of the provision of the universal postal service, was sent to the National Communications Authority (Anacom) on October 21st.

On November 19, the regulator sent a report analyzing this proposal to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, which approved it as it complies with the principles of the Postal Law and the criteria established in the Price Agreement for the three-year period 2026-2028.

According to the Anacom report, the new CTT table foresees an increase of four cents in the price for the national regular mail service, weighing up to 20 grams, paid through stamps and postage in postal establishments, in accordance with what is established in the Agreement.

The regulator also concluded that prices for basic services do not record average annual variations of more than 15%, meaning that, as this is the first year of the 2026-2028 Agreement, the limit of 30% for accumulated variations is complied with.

The analysis carried out by Anacom also resulted in the prices notified by CTT resulting in an average annual variation of 6.20%, in compliance with the maximum annual variation for 2026 and the principle of tariff uniformity provided for in the Agreement, as well as with the principles of accessibility to all users and cost orientation established in the Postal Law.
