This Tuesday, November 25th, the Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested five men between 19 and 30 years old who are suspected of the attempted murder of two construction workers in Barreiro.

In a statement, the PJ explains the arrests resulted from a police operation carrying out an arrest warrant for the attempted double homicide, which occurred on May 27th.

The victims are 42 and 55 years old and, at the time of the incident, were leaving their workplace. “When leaving the construction site, the victims were surprised by one of the now detained men entering the building, warning him that he could not do so. Not complying with the request, he threw a large stone at the vehicle, forcing the occupants to stop, and then called the remaining suspects”, explains the statement.

The PJ adds that the suspects were “equipped with large stones” and “violently attacked the victims, particularly in the head”, leaving them inanimate. The two men who were attacked had to be treated in hospital, where they remained hospitalized for a few days.

The detainees have no criminal record and will be brought before the court, where the corresponding coercive measures will be applied to them.
