The Attorney General of the Republic stated this Thursday, December 18, that he asked for an excuse regarding the conclusions of the preventive investigation into Spninumviva because of the climate created towards him and rejected that the investigation into Luís Montenegro had exceeded limits.
Amadeu Guerra spoke to journalists about the decision taken to archive the preventive investigation into Spinumviva, a company owned by the family of the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, after having participated in a ceremony to hand out human rights awards at the Assembly of the Republic.
On Wednesday, the DCIAP announced the archiving of the preventive investigation opened on March 12, 2025 against Spinumviva, as there was no “news of the commission of a criminal offense”.
In a statement, the Public Ministry department clarified that the investigation initially focused on payments to the company that were not owed to society, including when Luís Montenegro was already Prime Minister, and was later extended to the purchase by the head of Government’s family of two properties in Lisbon.
In a statement on Wednesday night in Brussels (Belgium) without the right to questions, the head of Government welcomed the shelving of the preventive investigation of which he was the subject.
“In conclusion, and after so much nonsense, it is fair and appropriate to say without reservation that I have always held the role of prime minister on an exclusive basis and have never been taken advantage of by anyone since I was elected president of the PSD, [que] Everything I decided in public positions was in the national interest and I never decided anything in terms of any particular interest”, highlighted the prime minister.
