US President Donald Trump said this Saturday, November 22, that the controversial peace plan his government proposed to end the war in Ukraine is not his “last offer” to Kiev.
“No, it is not my last offer,” said Trump, when asked by the press outside the White House whether the controversial 28-point plan for peace in Ukraine is his final proposal for the government of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who considers it unfavorable in several aspects.
“We would like to achieve peace. This should have happened a long time ago. The war between Russia and Ukraine should not have happened. If I were president, this would never have happened. We are trying to put an end to this. One way or another, we have to put an end to this”, the North American president simply added before leaving for the Andrews air base, where he intends to visit his golf course.
Trump’s words come after it was known that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House special envoy for peacekeeping Steve Witkoff will be in Geneva on Sunday to discuss the plan with a Ukrainian delegation.
Rubio and Witkoff will join US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, who is already in the Swiss city, where representatives from the main European countries are also expected to be present on Sunday to discuss the proposal, which many consider favorable to Moscow’s interests.
EAmong the points of the plan most unfavorable to Kiev are the demand that it reduce the number of its army and withdraw its troops from the entire territory of the Donbas region, which remains under its control.
