A baby chimpanzee was born at the Lisbon Zoo, becoming the third of this generation to be born there. The baby came into the world on November 30th, but was only announced this weekend, described by the zoo as a true “Christmas gift”.
The little chimpanzee weighed two kilos at birth and its sex has not yet been revealed, as it remains with its mother. This dependence can last up to four years. Gabi, the mother, was born at the same zoo 20 years ago, in 2005, while the grandmother, Gugu, was also born at the zoo, 20 years earlier, in 1995. Thus, three generations of this family are now together, starting a new family cycle.
