The national elevator market closed 2024 at 390 million euros, an increase of 8.3% compared to 2023, driven by the dynamism of construction, especially residential, reveals Informa D&B this Thursday, 27th.
Facilities were the main driver of growth, with revenues rising 12.5% to 135 million, while maintenance and repair grew 6.3% to 255 million. The total stock exceeds 150 thousand units, with around 40% concentrated in the Lisbon district and between 20% and 25% in Porto.
Imports of equipment increased by more than 9%, to 80 million euros, almost entirely coming from the European Union, and surpassed the historic maximum of 2008. Exports, although still reduced due to limited national production, rose to 13 million, with Spain, Cyprus and Angola as the main destinations.
The offer is very concentrated: the five largest companies hold 70.5% of the market in value and the first ten 85.3%. The sector combines large international groups, which offer integrated services, and a group of family SMEs focused mainly on regional maintenance.
In 2023, there were around 75 relevant companies and 3,360 workers in the aggregate, with an average of 45 employees per company; only four operators had more than 250 workers, and 87% of companies had fewer than 50.
