Health authorities in the Gaza Strip said this Saturday, November 29, that more than 70,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed in the war between Israel and Hamas, which began on October 7, 2023.
In a statement, the Gaza Ministry of Health, led by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, said that the number of deaths in the region currently stands at 70,100, with 354 people being shot dead by Israelis since the start of the ceasefire on 10 October.
The two parties have made accusations of violating the ceasefire, negotiated by the United States.
The Ministry of Health also noted that, in the last 48 hours, two bodies were found, one of them under the rubble. Both were transported to Gaza hospitals.
The war in Gaza was triggered by attacks on Israel, led by Hamas, on October 7, 2023, which caused around 1,200 deaths and 251 hostages.
Israel’s retaliation caused, in addition to more than 70,000 deaths, around 170,000 injuries, most of them civilians, according to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, which the United Nations (UN) considers credible.
