A TWISTED husband has admitted killing his wife, burying her in a shallow grave and digging it up to rape her corpse.
Zarbab Ali, 28, confessed to being a “monster” for murdering and violating Rachel Castillo, 25, in a horrifying police interview.
The killer was found guilty last week of stabbing his estranged wife to death three years ago, in November 2022.
Ali and Castillo had been about to finalise their divorce when he stabbed the 25-year-old in the chest.
He had been hiding in the dark of his estranged wife’s apartment, when he jumped out at Castillo and brutally murdered her.
He then wrapped the body in a blanket, drove out to the desert, and buried the mother of his two children in a shallow grave.

In the dead of night he returned to dig Castillo’s body out of the earthso that he could sexually assault her corpse.
In a disturbing police interview, Ali said: “Just to confirm that I am a monster, I raped her.”
He added: “If I didn’t commit to being a monster, then she would have died for no reason.”
The horrifying crime took place in Simi Valley, California.
Ali attempted to blame his ruthless murder on the fact his wife had allegedly cheated on him.
He told the court: “This is the only way I could escape.
“I wanted her dead. I was angry that she just wouldn’t let me move on.”
The depraved Ali was convicted of first-degree murder, and will be sentenced in January.
He had admitted to the crime soon after Rachel Castillo’s body was discovered in a remote part of the desert.
Castillo’s family members hope for a strict sentence, calling Ali “evil”.
Her father, Chris Castillo, said: “He called himself a monster at the stand, and that’s exactly what he is.”
“She didn’t even have defensive wounds on her arms because he stabbed her immediately to death, and that is so evil and egregious.”
He said that his daughter had been a “go-getter, hard worker and over-achiever” her whole life.
“There’s no way I could even begin to describe how hard we’re hurting as a family.”
Castillo’s aunt, Rennee Redding said that her niece had been misrepresented by Ali.
She said: “She was a straight-A student in her master’s program, not a drug addict and sex fiend.”
“Rachel was a good mother, and her kids will miss her,” she added.
Castillo’s sister Emily had come home on the night the 25-year-old was killed to find their shared apartment covered in blood.
She said: “As soon as I saw the blood, that’s when I realized something wasn’t right.”
“So I called my mom to let her know to come over and then I immediately called 911.”
After the conviction, prosecutor David Russell said: “Our thoughts are with Rachel’s family, who have endured unimaginable pain since the day she was taken from them.”

Russell also thanked law enforcement for their investigation into Castillo’s tragic death.
“While nothing can restore what her loved ones have lost, this conviction ensures the defendant will spend the rest of his life in prison and that the community will be protected from him forever,” he added.
