A court in Germany sentenced a man to eight and a half years in prison for sedating and raping his wife, after being found guilty of aggravated rape and serious bodily harm, among other facts.
A spokeswoman for the regional court in the city of Aachen confirmed the sentence against the man, identified as 61-year-old Fernando P., who was accused of drugging and sexually abusing his wife for years in the home they shared.
Furthermore, the accused also recorded those acts and posted the recordings in chat groups and digital platforms.
The crimes referred to in the sentence took place between 2018 and 2024, although there was originally a case from 2009, which is also included in the indictment. However, the court was unable to determine with certainty whether the video in question showed the defendant’s actions toward his wife.
The case has been compared to that of Dominique Pelicot, who drugged his wife, Gisele, for at least ten years, to allow dozens of individuals (a total of fifty defendants) to rape her in her own home, a case that shocked France.
