Kim Jong-Un orders increased missile production after US deploys nuclear submarine in South Korea

“To meet the anticipated demands of the missile and artillery forces of the Korean People’s Army, it is necessary to continuously raise the level of modernization of the ammunition industry by establishing new companies (…) and constantly updating the production structure of existing factories in a more efficient and practical way,” he stated during a visit to a munitions factory along with senior North Korean officials.

These statements come just one day after visiting a factory in North Korea dedicated to nuclear submarine manufacturingfrom where he has pointed out that “given the negative security situation (…) it is an urgent task and an indispensable option to further accelerate the radical development of the modernization and nuclear armament of the North Korean naval force.”

US submarine in South Korea

Furthermore, the North Korean Ministry of Defense denounced on the same day the entry of a American nuclear submarine in South Korean waters, he USS Greeneville, and has stressed that Washington “is increasingly less concealed in its attempts to create a serious element of nuclear instability in the security context of North Korea.”
