Judge dismisses murder and weapons charges against him

Luigi Mangione, accused of the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, will not face the death penalty after the federal judge overseeing the case dismissed this Friday the federal murder charges and another weapons charge that made him susceptible to this sentence.

Since his arrest, there has been support for Mangione on social media due to the furor that his case has generated in the United States, where many consider him a hero who has stood up to the private insurance business. There is even an online fundraising fund intended to pay for his legal defense and support while he is in prison, which has already exceeded $1 million.
