IndiGo flights to be cancelled on Saturday?
Multiple IndiGo flights have been cancelled for the past few days at various airports, leaving the passengers stranded. The IndiGo crisis was largely trigerred by unexpected pilot shortage under new duty-time rules, prompting the government to temporarily suspend new pilot duty time rules to ease IndiGo’s widespread flight cancellations. The IndiGo has blamed the disruption on “unforeseen operational challenges”.

IndiGo CEO expects less than 1,000 flight cancellations on Saturday. IndiGo has an undisputed position as India’s biggest airline. It operates around 2,300 flights a day, racking up about 118 million passenger arrivals last year. In a video statement, the company’s CEO Pieter Elbers said late Friday the relaxation of the rules was “of great help” but there was “still lots of work in progress”.
Friday was the “most severely impacted day” with “well over a thousand” cancellations, Elbers said. He added that the company expected cancellations to fall below 1,000 on Saturday ahead of a return to normal between December 10 and 15.
