Talking about important topics such as sexism, harassment, abuse and consent is necessary and not always easy. Brazilian Rafaela Azevedo created a comedy show to address these issues. The play “King Kong Fran” has already been seen by more than 150 thousand people in Brazil and Europe.

In February, she returns to Portugal to expand this number and, more importantly, promote reflections on the themes covered in the play. “In this innovative performance, Rafaela Azevedo provokes the audience through laughter, but also invites them to reflect. Direct interaction with the audience transforms the show into a moment of sharing and role reversal”highlights the press release.

There will be two presentations: in Lisbon, on the 9th, at Teatro Villaret, and in Porto, on February 10th, at Teatro Sá da Bandeira. Rafaela performed the same show earlier this year, with all sessions sold out.

“With a surprising combination of cabaret, circus and the classic gorilla woman show, ‘King Kong Fran’ presents the character Fran, who challenges and subverts feminine stereotypes. With an approach full of humor and irony, The show deals with themes that are as profound as they are current, such as machismo, harassment, abuse and consent, creating a unique and interactive experience”says the synopsis of the play.

The event is promoted by Cloud Man Tree, which defines the Brazilian tour as “one of the most striking and necessary cultural events today”. Tickets are on sale here.
