The Environmental Fund published this Monday, 22nd, the notice for incentives for the purchase of vehicles with reduced emissions, endowed with 17.6 million euros.
Applications open on December 29th and run until February 12th, 2026 or until the allocation is exhausted.
The new notice maintains the obligation to scrap a fossil fuel vehicle over 10 years old and provides for increased support for IPSS, Transport Authorities and local authorities.
As a new feature, support for low-emission vehicles already purchased is now eligible, as long as they are purchased new from January 1, 2025. 100% electric light goods vehicles are excluded, which will be subject to a specific warning.
The main support includes up to 4,000 euros for individuals and 5,000 euros for entities (IPSS, Transport Authorities and municipalities) for the purchase of 100% electric passenger cars — with a purchase price limit of 38,500 euros (55 thousand euros for vehicles with more than five seats) — and an incentive of 50% of the purchase value for cargo bikes (up to 1,500 euros electric / one thousand euros not electric), electric and conventional bicycles (up to 750 euros electric / 500 euros conventional) and electric motorcycles/mopeds/tricycles/quadricycles (up to 1,500 euros).
For chargers in multi-family condominiums, support covers 80% of the cost of the charger (up to 800 euros) and 80% of the electrical installation (up to 1,000 euros) per place, limited to one charger per condominium and a maximum of ten per condominium.
The incentives apply throughout the national territory and are subject to a limit of four applications per legal person or one per natural person, depending on the equipment. After approval, beneficiaries have 90 days to make the purchase, if they have not already done so, and to submit the required documentation, including proof of slaughter, using the form available on the Environmental Fund website.
The measure is part of the Green Mobility package and aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the transport sector, reduce the average age of the national vehicle fleet, improve road safety and environmental quality and encourage more sustainable modes of mobility, recalls the Executive.
The Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, stated that the Government intends to “encourage decarbonization, helping people to anticipate the green transition”.
