This Tuesday, November 25th, French police arrested the fourth suspect in what has been dubbed the “robbery of the century” at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
The news was advanced by newspaper Le Parisienthe man was detained during the morning by a team from the anti-gang unit (BRB) of the Judicial Police of the City of Paris (DPJ-PP).
The suspect, who is already known to the police, is accused of “organized robbery” and “criminal association”.
In addition to this suspect of direct involvement in the robbery of the museum, four more people from the suspect’s close circle were also arrested this Tuesday in Mayenne. They are two men aged 38 and 39 and two women aged 31 and 40, all of them residing in the Paris region, according to information released by prosecutor Laure Beccuau in a statement.
The assault on the Louvre took place on the morning of October 19 and was carried out by four individuals, who needed just a few minutes to enter the Apollo Gallery via a goods elevator and quickly break two of the three display cases installed at the end of 2019 to store the precious jewels. The robbers used an angle grinder and escaped with the pieces, which are still partly unknown.
