The blocist founder was speaking at the 14th National Convention of BE, which takes place in the municipal pavilion of Casal Vistoso, in Lisbon, in one of the party’s most critical moments, leaving some messages to those present, similar to the founder Fernando Rosas, moments before.
Louçã called for a party with “feet firmly on the ground”, “led by the grassroots organization in the fight for the long term”, because “it is the persistence of the ant that makes life”.
“There is only class struggle with militant organization, with centers of activity where we learn, where we decide, where we do things,” he warned.
The messages continued: “Winning young people and organizing workers”, “making broad social movements grow”, giving “power to militant groups” and “setting foot on our land”.
“And that is our response, our message for the future”, he highlighted.
Before Louçã’s intervention, another founder of BE, Fernando Rosas, warned that the party’s “battle of reorganization” is a central problem and will be a “Herculean task” but necessary.
“The battle of organization is a central problem of the political line and the conception of the party we want to be”, said Rosas, before the delegates to the XIV National Convention.
Fernando Rosas, signer of motion A, proposed by the current leadership, spoke mainly to the party, questioning whether the Bloc wants to be an “ephemeral” and “hit and run” party or a “relevant party among the working people and progressive forces”.
For Fernando Rosas, without “true social roots”, the Left Bloc will be vulnerable “to attacks from the reactionary and fascist right”.
Rosas advocated that BE must be able to be “in the organized and lasting struggle”, not only “stirring up popular struggles but building and influencing them through a permanent organization”.
