A HIGH-SCHOOL teacher in Australia has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old student, after months of denying the allegations.
Karly Rae, 37, admitted to having sex with the boy on multiple occasions in October 2024 in several locations around Newcastle, New South Wales.
According to the court reports, Rae initially groomed the pupil through social media.
Messages were exchanged on social media platforms Snapchat and Instagram.
One message read: “Maybe we could have one last rendezvous before school goes back. I’ll bring my toy.”
In another she said it was “too tempting” to contact him on Snapchat.

The teenager even suggested they that delete each other from the multimedia messaging app.
Rae responded: “It’s my fault. I take full responsibility. Do what you want / need.”
She was arrested later that month, but was released on bail.
Rae allegedly then tried to contact the victim five times in two hours in an attempt to influence his account before the court.
Justice Hament Dhanji said during the hearing: “In the course of those calls, it’s alleged [she] sought to persuade the complainant to give a false version of events.”
The teenager told his mother about these messages.
His cousin, who had seen these exchanges, also alerted his parents.
She was re-arrested in June for breaching a domestic violence order but was granted bail once more after the authorities found out she was pregnant.
The pregnancy was considered to be at “high risk” due to gestational diabetes and a history of miscarriages.
The identity of the baby’s father remains unclear.
However, it is not thought to belong to the student.
Eight weeks on from giving birth, Rae changed her plea and confessed to the child sex offences.
Accompanied by her new-born, she pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a minor, grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity, possessing child abuse material and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
She has since lost her job and has been ordered not to be alone with anyone under the age of 16.
Rae previously claimed she did not know the pupil was underage, despite him being a student at her school.
She is expected to be sentenced in March.
