Tesla is recruiting employees who work in factories and in sales to control the cars, in a process that aims to develop software up to full autonomy.
“Robotaxi” is the taxi service that Tesla has made available in the USA. The objective is to reach the level of total autonomy but in California, there are legal obstacles.
Posters placed at the company’s factories located in California indicate that Tesla is willing to pay professionals overtime. The purpose is to find someone who is available to support the movement of cars, taking control if and when necessary.
At stake are 1,655 cars registered by Tesla for that service, in the San Francisco area (region bathed by the Pacific Ocean, in California). The plans include continuing to develop the software until cars can drive 100% autonomously with all safety conditions.
Tesla’s Robotaxi service was launched in September, with a app which has the same name. On social media, there are countless complaints about long waiting times, due to the lack of available cars.
Remember that California has stricter rules in this regard than other US states, meaning that transporting customers in an autonomous car is not permitted today. In Texas, on the other hand, Tesla is already testing autonomous cars.
