Galp will reduce energy consumption tariffs from January 1, 2026, by 4% for electricity and 14% for natural gasfollowing the reduction in markets, according to the company told Lusa.

Official source from Galp said that it will update electricity and natural gas prices, with average decreases of 4% and 14%, respectively, in terms of supplier (fixed term and energy), that is, in the installments of the invoice that depend on it.

This decision, he explained, “accompanies the reduction in energy prices in the markets” and will take effect from the beginning of January.

Taking into account that the electricity tariff proposal from the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) for 2026 foresees an average increase of 3% to update network access tariffs – the final value will be announced by December 15th -, Galp estimates that the real impact will be an average decrease of around 1% in the final electricity billwhich corresponds to an average reduction of 30 cents.

In the case of natural gas, the reductions communicated by the company already include the current network access tariffs, which do not change in January (the gas year does not correspond to the calendar year), fully maintaining the 14% drop which corresponds to an average reduction of 2.84 euros in the monthly bill.

According to the ERSE proposal presented on October 15, in the case of low voltage consumers, which include domestic consumers, the variation in network access tariffs will imply an increase of 3%.

In the liberalized market, the variation in the final price depends on the tariffs for access to the networks and the energy component, purchased by each supplier in the wholesale markets, plus the respective commercialization margin, which in the case of EDP Comercial will have an announced reduction of 4%.
