Alongside Virgil van Dijk, the captain of redsDinis and Duarte, the eldest sons of Diogo Jota and Rute Cardoso, stepped onto the Anfield pitch this Saturday, December 27th in a tribute to the player who died on July 3rd this year in a car accident in Spain, which also killed the striker’s brother, André Silva.
Before the start of Liverpool-Wolverhampton (the reds won 2-1), counting for the 18th round of the Premier League, the two children took to the stage of the meeting, in a moment followed with emotion by the fans and which was accompanied by Rute Cardoso, who was in the stands.
The tribute preceded the first game, since Diogo Jota’s death, between the two teams that the Portuguese international represented in England. After three seasons at Wolves, the player started wearing the Liverpool shirt in 2020.
