Drag art, northeasternity, identity and creation will be the themes of a special conversation at Casa Oxente this Monday, November 24th. The event will be attended by Ruby Nox and Poseidon, winner and finalist of the second season of Drag Race Brasil.

The artists from Pernambuco are touring Europe and have already performed shows in Lisbon and Porto. With the state flag always on the suitcase, Ruby and Poseidon always highlight their Northeastern heritage and drag identity.

The conversation circle is free and places are limited. The event starts at 7pm. This initiative is part of the Tira-gosto project, by Casa Oxente, which is the “embassy of the northeast in Europe”.

The next edition of Tira-gosto will be on December 10th, with the theme “Rhythms of justice, art as a language of human rights”. The conversation will be like “arts and cultures, especially Afro-Brazilian ones, bring new forms of justice and human rights to life. We will explore how artistic creation opens paths for political participation, social imagination and resistance, uniting aesthetics and ethics, rhythm and law.” The person who will participate is a lawyer Hannah Linhareswho shares reflections from his PhD at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra.

Casa Oxente, as DN Brasil already revealed in a recent report, is an art gallery dedicated to northeastern artists and the region’s multiple forms of expression. More than a gallery, Casa Oxente emerges with the vocation of being a northeastern cultural platform and a space for sharing knowledge. “What I wanted was to remove this negative view that is already permeated within Brazil: Here we start from scratch, to let people build their own image of what the Northeast is”, founder Wilame Lima told the newspaper.
