The Christmas holiday brings changes to opening hours in public offices across the country. Even though the holiday is on Thursday, the government determined a “feriadão”, the so-called bridge. In other words, public employees do not need to work on Friday, December 26th. THE DN Brazil prepared a guide on what opens and what closes this Christmas period.
AIMA Counters and Mission Structure
The Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) is covered by the long weekend. Therefore, the branches will be open until this Tuesday (22) and will close from Wednesday (24). The return to work will be next Monday, December 29th.
The same occurs in the Mission Structure, which is in its last days of work. This week, the locations will only be open until Tuesday and closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th.. Next week, there will only be two days left for in-person service: the 29th and 30th.
Despite the closure of in-person appointments, the processes will continue to be processed onlinethe government assured the DN Brazil. If it is necessary for an immigrant to attend an in-person service, a call will be made by email, indicating which store they should go to.
Citizen Stores, Finance and Security
Other public offices known to immigrants, such as Finance, Social Security and Lojas do Cidadão, they will also be closed for three days. Service will resume on Monday, December 29th.

Consulate opens on the 26th
The Consulate General of Lisbon there will be no long holiday. On Friday, December 26th, service will be normal, and will only be closed on December 24th and 25th.
Commerce in general
Each establishment has its own rules. In general, shopping centers open at different times on the 24th. This is the case with Colombo Shopping Centre, which will be open from 8am to 6pm on Christmas Eve. On the 25th, it will be closed and reopens on Friday, the 26th, at normal hours.
Banks and post offices are also closed on the 24th.. Already the public transport can operate with reduced schedules. In the case of the Lisbon metropolitan (subway), unlike other years, the transport will run normally until 1:00 amon the night of the 24th to the 25th. On Christmas Day, operations begin at 6:30 am. Already in Porto, the stations close at 8pm on the night of December 24th and open at 9am on the 25th.
