Four emergency obstetrics and gynecology services will be closed on Saturday (6 December), while three obstetric emergencies will be closed on Sunday, according to the National Health Service (SNS) Portal.
On Saturday, the emergency rooms for this specialty will be closed in the hospitals of Portimão (Faro district), Barreiro (Setúbal district), Setúbal and Braga, according to the schedules consulted by Lusa at 12:00 today.
The situation improves on Sunday, with the closure of emergency gynecology and obstetrics services at hospitals in Portimão, Barreiro and Vila Franca de Xira (Lisbon district).
On the other hand, on Saturday, the obstetrics emergencies at the hospitals in Braga, Vila Franca de Xira, Aveiro, Santarém, São Francisco Xavier (Lisbon) and Leiria will operate in a conditioned manner, only receiving cases referred by CODU/INEM.
Also on Sunday, obstetric emergencies in Braga, Santarém, Aveiro, Leiria and São Francisco Xavier are mentioned.
During the weekend, the pediatric emergencies at the hospitals in Vila Franca de Xira, Esposende (Braga district), Beatriz Ângelo, in Loures, will operate with restrictions, only treating cases referred by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
According to published schedules, 132 emergency services will be open across the country on Saturday, in addition to 28 units operating within the scope of the pilot project that requires users to contact SNS Line 24 in advance.
On Sunday, 133 emergency rooms and 27 pilot project units will be available.
The constraints are mainly due to the lack of specialist doctors to ensure the scales. Health authorities recommend that, before going to an emergency room, the population contact the SNS 24 Line (808 24 24 24) to obtain appropriate guidance.
