More specifically, for this Wednesday, Christmas Eve, forecasts point to “a small drop in temperature with the formation of ice or frost in some places”, as well as “periods of very cloudy skies”, the “possibility of light showers in the southern region”, the “formation of ice or frost, especially in the interior regions” and the forecast of “formation of fog or morning fog”.
In Consoada, Guarda will be the coldest district on the mainland with the maximum temperature reaching 7ºC, with a minimum of 1ºC. On that day, Lisbon will have a maximum temperature of 13º and the minimum temperature is expected to be 7º. Porto will have a maximum of 15º and a minimum of 5º.
The cold will be accentuated at Consoada, but temperatures will drop even further on Christmas Day, in addition to “periods of very cloudy skies” being predicted, as well as “light showers, in the South region during the morning and in the North region from mid-afternoon, which will be snow above 800/1000 meters of altitude”. “The formation of fog or morning fog is expected in some places in the extreme North” and “a small drop in the minimum temperature”, but also “in the maximum temperature in the North and Central regions”.
On December 25th, thermometers should register negative values, with -3º in Bragança and -1º in Guarda and Viseu. Braga and Vila Real should have lows around 0º, according to IPMA forecasts. In Lisbon, temperatures will fluctuate between 7º and 12º, and in Porto a maximum of 12º and a minimum of 4º are expected.
With regard to the Azores, “on the 24th and 25th, the approach and passage of a new cold frontal surface with waves will affect the weather, especially the islands of the Western and Central Groups with precipitation”.
Therefore, “precipitation is expected for the Western Group in the afternoon and evening of December 24th”. In the “Central Group, an increase in cloudiness is expected on the 24th and precipitation will only occur at dawn on the 25th of December”.
For Consoada, it is expected that in Ponta Delgada the maximum temperature will reach 17º and the minimum will reach 13º, but the following day the values should drop and fluctuate between 11º and 16º.
In the Madeira archipelago, the IPMA predicts, starting this Tuesday afternoon (23), the “occurrence of periods of rain or showers, especially on the northern slope and in the highlands of the island of Madeira, which will be less likely on the 25th”.
The meteorology institute indicates that “the temperature should not undergo significant changes until the 26th, with maximum temperature values between 19 and 21°C, being between 7 and 9°C in the highlands. The minimum temperature should vary between 13º and 15°C, being between 3 and 5°C in the highlands”.
For Christmas Eve, Funchal is expected to have a maximum of 20º and a minimum of 16º, and on December 25th temperatures fluctuate between 15º and 20º.
