However, there is much more to see, as the Christmas illuminations will be distributed across 46 locations, through the installation of 1,050 luminous structures, made up of 5,900 decorative pieces. This year, these Christmas lights in Lisbon cover a total of 182 km of lights, the equivalent of more than three laps around the city, as announced by the Chamber.

Then, throughout the month of December, between the 5th and 9th, the city’s Christmas festivities will take place, featuring baroque music, gospel, fado and orchestrated cinema. This initiative, with free entry, includes seven shows in four churches and on three emblematic stages in the city.

The Music in the Churches cycle, with artistic direction by Filipe Faria, proposes, on December 5th (9pm), at the Church of São Vicente de Fora, a concert with the group Concerto Campestre; on 7 (5pm), at the Church of Santa Isabel, a performance by the Sete Lágrimas project; on 12 (9pm), at the Church of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, a show by Altos do Bairro & Coro Alto; and also, on the 14th (17:00), at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Luz, the Chamber Choir of the Gregorian Institute of Lisbon.

But there is more. On the 8th, at 4:30 pm, at Cinema São Jorge, there will be a live performance by Orquestra POP Portuguesa, which brings the animated film to life Snowmanby Dyanne Jackson, an adaptation of the children’s book by English author Raymond Briggs. On the 13th, at 9pm, at the Capitol, the voices of Katia Guerreiro, Cristina Branco and Hélder Moutinho join, for the first time on stage, the Portuguese guitar of Pedro de Castro, who is the artistic director of this show entitled Lisbon Fado, Homeland. Finally, on the 19th, at 9pm, the National Pantheon hosts a performance by Saint Dominic’s Gospel Choir with Christmas classics and traditional gospel spirituals. These three events are translated into Portuguese Sign Language.
