The original recall was first published on December 14 and later updated on December 19 to include additional distribution details. As per the recall notice, it was initiated by Inspired Go, and as of now, there have been no reported illnesses linked to the consumption of the affected products.
Products affected by the premade food recall
According to the CFIA, the recalled products include:
- Bento Noodle Bowl
- Greek Mezze Salad
- Dill Chickpea Salad
- Super Solstice Salad
- Pickle Platter Snack Pack
Consumers who may have purchased these items are being advised not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the products. The CFIA recommends that the recalled items be “thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.”
Health risks linked to listeria
“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the CFIA notice reads. “Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.”
Health officials warn that certain groups are at higher risk, including pregnant women, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems. While pregnant women may experience only mild flu-like symptoms, the infection can have serious consequences.“Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth,” the agency said, adding that in severe cases, listeria infection can be life-threatening.
What consumers should do
The CFIA advises anyone who believes they may have become sick after consuming a recalled product to contact their healthcare provider. Consumers are also urged to check their homes for recalled items and ensure they are not consumed or distributed.
