A BRIT grandad who allegedly tried to drown his daughter-in-law lover in a swimming pool in Florida has been spotted back in the UK for the first time.
Mark Gibbon, 62, has apparently patched things up with Jasmine Wyld in spite of his alleged attempt on her life – and they are back in each other’s arms after he dodged a potential 15-year prison stint.
New photos show the silver-haired lighting engineer from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, strolling with a pooch through a car park.
Sporting a purple puffer and a pair of cargo shorts, he can be seen sliding open the door of a waiting van before driving off.
The lover grandad walked free from a US court after accepting a plea deal where he admitted one count of battery against 33-year-old Wyld, mum of his two grandchildren and ex of his own son Alex.
The jaw-dropping case dates to last August when the pair, who got together after she was engaged to his son, started rowing after a boozy night at a plush Florida resort.
The argument was sparked by a disagreement about Gibbon’s will, and the scrap spilled into the pool.
Cops said Gibbon shoved Jasmine’s head underwater multiple times at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, leaving her scratched and bruised.
Jasmine’s terrified nine-year-old daughter – and Mark’s granddaughter – was forced to leap into the pool and intervene.
Gibbon was arrested and charged with two counts of battery and one count of attempted second-degree murder.
He faced spending up to 15 years behind bars if convicted on all counts.
But he managed to avoid any jail time by admitting one count of battery as part of a plea deal.
At the time of his arrest, cops said: “Gibbon is accused of pushing and holding the victim’s head underwater multiple times, preventing her from breathing.
“The victim’s nine-year-old daughter jumped into the pool in an attempt to stop Gibbon from drowning her mother.”
Gibbon’s case was thrown into disarray after Wyld begged prosecutors to free him.
She insisted he was a “good man” who “adores his family”, and said: “I have complete trust in him.”
Wyld, a hairdresser, told the court: “Back here in England, what we call social services have contacted me and there will be involvement with the social services here in the UK.
“I don’t know the rules as of yet as I’ve not met with the lady that’s going to come round and talk to me.
“Obviously this case has hit England and it’s been made public knowledge to pretty much the entire world.”
Wyld had been engaged to Gibbons’s son Alex, 34, before the couple split in 2021.
And in February 2024, Alex was sentenced to two years in jail after he drove a Porsche towards his dad during a heated exchange.
