A BRIT grandad has hooked back up with his daughter-in-law turned lover mere months after allegedly trying to drown her at a swanky Florida resort.
The extraordinary twist follows the release of 62-year-old lighting engineer, Mark Gibbon, who escaped a potential 15-year prison stint in the US earlier this month.
The lover grandad walked free from a US court after accepting a plea deal where he admitted one count of battery against 33-year-old Jasmine Wyld, mum of his two grandkids and ex of his own son Alex.
The jaw-dropping case dates to last August when the pair, who got together after she was engaged to his son, started rowing after a boozy night at a plush Florida resort.
A 62-year-old British grandfather has reunited with his daughter-in-law turned lover, only months after he was accused of trying to push her under the water in a Florida swimming pool.
Mark Gibbon, a lighting engineer, walked out of a US courtroom after striking a plea deal in which he admitted a single battery charge involving 33-year-old Jasmine Wyld — the mother of his two grandchildren and former fiancée of his son, Alex.

The extraordinary saga began last August at a luxury Florida resort, where the couple — who had started their relationship while she was still engaged to his son — ended up in a heated argument following a night of heavy drinking.
The bust-up blew up around Gibbon’s will and spilled into the pool.
Cops said Gibbon shoved Jasmine’s head underwater multiple times at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, and left her scratched and bruised before her terrified nine-year-old daughter leapt in to stop him.
But hairdresser Wyld begged for her “best friend” to be freed, insisting she had “no fear” of him.
Gibbon was then allowed to return to Buckinghamshire, where he runs a successful lighting business that has even involved him working with superstars like Ed Sheeran and Queen.
The mum-of-two has since been spotted visiting Gibbon’s £800k semi in Beaconsfield this week, according to the Daily Mail.
Gibbon, meanwhile, is fortunate to have ducked a 15-year jail stretch for the alleged assault.
A source said: “Mark’s been back for a little while now, but he’s been keeping his head down and has resumed his business as a lighting engineer.
“Jasmine has obviously forgiven him and he’s grateful that she played such an important role in securing his freedom.”
Court papers reveal the Florida case was wrapped up on November 7.
Gibbon had initially faced second-degree attempted murder but prosecutors downgraded it to battery by strangulation, before the plea deal reduced it further to a simple battery misdemeanour.
His passport was handed back and the lover grandad was hit with a $1,308.68 (£989.17) court bill.
At the time of his arrest the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said: “Gibbon is accused of pushing and holding the victim’s head underwater multiple times, preventing her from breathing.
“The victim’s nine-year-old daughter jumped into the pool in an attempt to stop Gibbon from drowning her mother.”
Sheriff Grady Judd added: “We expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us.
“Because Mr Gibbon couldn’t control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated.”
But the case collapsed after mum-of-two Jasmine pleaded with prosecutors, calling Gibbon “a good man” who “adores his family”.
She added: “I have complete trust in him. He’s my best friend.”
Prosecutors confirmed she wanted the case dropped so he could return to the UK.
They said she told them she “had no fear of him.”
In a statement they said: “The defendant in this case was charged with battery for repeatedly dunking the victim’s head below water in a swimming pool during an argument.
“The victim informed our office that she felt the defendant had been punished enough and she desired that he be allowed to return to England and have contact with her and her daughter.
“The defendant completed an anger management course and was adjudicated guilty of battery.”
Jasmine said the scandal had already been blasted “to the entire world” and had triggered involvement from British social services.
She told the court: “Back here in Englandwhat we call social services have contacted me and there will be involvement with the social services here in the UK. I don’t know the rules as of yet as I’ve not met with the lady that’s going to come round and talk to me. Obviously this case has hit England and it’s been made public knowledge to pretty much the entire world.”
Jasmine had previously been engaged to Gibbon’s son Alex, 34, until they split in 2021.
In February last year Alex was jailed for two years for attempting to ram his dad with a Porsche after a blow-up.
The enraged son once burst in and allegedly found Jasmine in his father’s bed while they were still together, sparking a huge family row which ended in him cutting off all contact.
One insider said: “There have been a number of issues within the family.
“He [Alex] feels an awful betrayal at how his dad has struck up a relationship with the mother of his two children.
“Mark and Jasmine do an awful lot together and they go away on holiday with the children a couple of times every year.
“She has a place of her own, but she’s nearly always in Beaconsfield with Mark.
“I don’t know for sure what happened on this holiday and why Mark has apparently tried to drown her.
“But I have been told that Jasmine was unhappy that they have been in a relationship for a few years and she is not named in his will.”
