The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) opened a criminal case for clandestine slaughter and 38 administrative offense cases against butchers, for infractions such as failure to comply with hygiene standards.
In the announcement made this Monday, November 24, ASAE says it has carried out, in recent weeks, a national operation, through which it inspected 152 economic operators, namely butchers and retail establishments with a butchery section.

Among the main infractions are the lack of prior communication and complaints book, the failure to comply with hygienic and technical standards in the distribution, preparation and sale of meat, the lack of a meat handler’s card and compliance with metrological control operations.
More than 82 kilograms (kg) of food were also seized due to non-compliance with traceability and labeling rules and seven weighing instruments due to lack of metrological control.
